My Thirty Day Water Fast - Day Two

Not Dinner
Day Two is a difficult time on a fast. I actually wasn't as hungry as yesterday, but my mind would constantly jar me towards thinking about food. Really interesting....I would be walking to the bathroom and suddenly I would turn sharply towards the kitchen without even a picture of food in my mind. As soon as I picked up my towel at the pool to go back to the condo, I thought, "Lunch." When I was going out for my walk, I grabbed a credit card "just in case" I needed to get something to eat or drink. So even without a hunger pang, there is a constant memory of food that keeps rearing its ugly head like every five minutes.

You will be happy to know that I only watched one show of Cupcake Wars on the Food Channel and then turned to America's Next Top Model.....those girls never eat.

The Stats:

Weight: 149 - yes, you read that right! Six pounds less than yesterday morning...I think it has to do with the fact I gorged myself the day before I started this fast for my last meal....so I probably really wasn't 155 pounds yesterday....maybe 151 if I hadn't eaten ten pounds of food before bed.
Exercise: Walked around the golf course for forty-five minutes and took lots of animal pictures - chipmunks, lizards, and bunnies.
Hunger: Yes, but not awful.
Side Effects: Mild headache late in the day.
Mental Clarity: Fine, but the images and constant pull towards finding food is distracting.

  1. You are exercising too? Without food? Did you feel like you were going to faint? A fast is one thing, but adding exercise to it sounds deadly. Please be careful.

  2. I am just walking which is fine while fasting as long a one isn't feeling weak. This is only Day Two and I feel perfectly fine.

  3. Pat, I love the fact you took pictures of animals along your walk. Sounds like a beautiful addition to a walk and meeting wonderful, cute creatures. Out of curiosity, did you have a goal weight in mind?

  4. Are you allowed to take aspirin or other meds on your fast?

  5. Dawn, I am visiting Tucson, Arizona and there are many desert creatures that I do not see in the east! The birds are different - a saw a hole bunch of hummingbirds the other day, one with a ruby throat (it was not a ruby-throated hummingbird, but another name), lots of quails running with their baby quails, and roadrunners! Then the bunnies have different ears and there are lots of lizards which skitter about. So much fun to see on my walk. I got lucky with the photo of the chipmunk...for some reason he let me get really close to him to photograph that picture (no zoom, that was taken with my Blackberry).

As to this fast, not primarily for weight loss, but my proper weight is between 130-135, depending on how much muscles I have. So there is a lot of fat for my body to burn during this fast which is why I can go for quite a bit without an issue.

Joan, no medicine as it interferes with the body's ability to cleanse itself. Doesn't much matter because I am not on any medications anyway.

  6. Pat, you have never looked over weight! It will be hard as hell when you get to your desired weight to keep it off! I just don't believe in diets. I'll just eat stuff like canned asparagus and beets and lettuce salad when I want to lose weight. It works for me. Anyway, I wish you lots of luck. You are a beautiful lady!
